Hurricane Preparation for Pets

hurricanepreparationforpets.jpgOK, people, read up.

We (and by “we”, I mean, your pets) are part of your family and you would not leave a family member behind (well, I’ve seen some I might leave… but that’s just me, and I’m a dog) during a HUGE storm so why would you even consider leaving your pet?

I don’t get it. I don’t really understand why you would even need to read a list of ways to prepare for a hurricane. Does someone remind you to take your little people? NO. Does someone remind you to take the old people? NO.

So why in the world would you need someone to tell you to TAKE YOUR PET?

Time to go… I’ve got to make sure my people know to take me if the hurricane in the Gulf comes this way! (just in case)

It’s breaking my heart to see all of the stories of animals left behind. The ones who didn’t make it - that saddens me. I’m thankful for the Houston SPCA and the work they are doing rescuing abandoned and lost pets.

I can tell you right now, our little dog is part of our family. She sleeps in the bed with us, and goes with us pretty much anywhere. So to answer your question, we would never leave our dog. That would be like leaving one of our kids.
