Poor Old Dog
Whew… I survived the loudest day of the year and now things are back to normal.
A dog friend of mine stopped by with his people to say hello today
. I thought he was looking a little old, for a dog. He had gray hair all around his face and he was moving awfully slow. Poor old dog.
It made me start to think about my dog age. Dogs normally don’t do that like people do but today I did and realized that I’m the same age as my neighbor, Lipton! YIKES! I certainly do not feel as old as he looks. Hmmm… I wonder if he thought the same thing about me?
Maybe I should start doing some more of that doga stuff… nah! Just kidding. I just don’t get that. If I wanted to move my body in all those positions, I’d do it myself.

OK, so I’m sure there is a reason my people get so noisy every year on the same day. For the most part, my life is pretty quiet, except for the occasional ruckus the stray dogs behind my fence make.
I overheard one of my people say something about July 4th. I don’t know anyone named July but having a number as a last name is kinda weird, if you ask me.
Anyway, I guess the noisy day is tomorrow. I see my people putting fire on something and before I know it there are loud noises and things moving. I’ve learned to hideout under my favorite bush. It protects me from lots… little people that I don’t know, the hot sun, and yes, even loud moving things.
I’ll be happy with the loud day is over and I can get back to my quiet life.

Yes, this is me. I’m sure you don’t recognize my new, sexy self but it is me, Oscar the dog. It finally happened… I had a day at the spa. That’s what my people call it, anyway. All I know is that one minute I’m enjoying a nice, leisurely morning walk and the next thing I know some smiling lady is taking me away from my person. I knew right away it was the day I had heard my people talk about… grooming day!
Although I did not really care for all the grooming, I do say I like the results. I mean, look at me… I’m handsome! (and much cooler, too… cooler as in temperature)
Dogs Eat Gourmet
Bet you’d never guess that I just enjoyed a gourmet meal… but I did. It was DELICIOUS!
My people bought some kind of recipe book and actually made food for me. I’m feeling rather spoiled and I like it.
I guess the whole shot thing made them feel guilty or something. OR maybe they are being extra nice, knowing that I’ll be getting shots soon. Hmmmm…. well, it’s working. Bring it on!

Whew! I dodged one big bullet this morning. One of my people took me over to the dreaded dog doctor. YIKES! I was so nervous walking up to that building that I had to stop and poop.
I overheard him talking to the lady there about getting SHOTS! WHAT???? I absolutely HATE shots!!! Whose big idea was this anyway? No one asked ME!
Fortunately for me the line was long and I was given a reprieve. No shots today. Dang… guess that means I’ll be there again soon.

My little people spread out their slip n slide today. I love it when they get that out because I have a long track of water to drink anytime I want.
Watching them hurl themselves to the ground and slide makes me laugh. They laugh too so apparently it’s fun.
I’m just glad they didn’t try to get me to slide! “Oscar don’t play dat!”

My people are getting that crazy look in their eyes. It only happens about once or twice a year but each time it happens I know exactly what it means… GARAGE SALE. See all the stuff they have piled everywhere?
I heard of a man who sold his neighbor’s dog in a garage sale. HELLO???
Just to be safe I’d better hide out in my yard (so a neighbor doesn’t sell me) and protect all my toys (so my people don’t sell them).
Whew… hopefully I’ll make it through the weekend.

For the record, I am not a spoiled dog. Don’t get me wrong, I am a little pampered (and who doesn’t like that?) but not spoiled.
I mean, just look at the picture. This is my yard. My people keep is very nice for me. It’s like heaven on earth and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
There are several dogs on my street that are spoiled. I don’t really care to hang out with them. They think they are better than me. Life is too short to spend time with a dog like that.

This is a new neighbor of mine. He keeps telling me about how GREEN he is.
Now I’m not the smartest dog in the world but I could tell by looking at him that he is not green and I have NEVER seen a green dog.
Maybe no one has told him. Maybe he’s in denial. I think I’ll just let him think he’s green and hope he figures it out for himself.
Now I have another thing to be thankful for…. I’m a black dog and I know it.
