Loving Your Pet
I’m extremely sad today. My friend, Molly, got out of her yard and someone picked her up.
That’s not the sad part. The sad part is that the person who picked her up and took care of her gave her away after 13 days. Molly’s family finally found out where the lady lived and when they asked to have Molly back the lady said “no”. She wasn’t even willing to give them the phone number of Molly’s new owner.
Apparently she thinks that because Molly’s owner did not have her micro-chipped or tagged they did not love her. I disagree. I do not wear tags nor do I have a chip in me. My family loves me and has for my 14 years of life.
The point is… Molly’s family DOES love her and wants her back. The lady that found her made an assumption based on her opinion as to what is best for Molly.
So today I am sad. Sad to know that Molly is with a stranger instead of her loving family. Sad that someone would think she knew what was best for Molly when actually she is hurting her.

I’m sure you’re wondering who that handsome dog is in the picture. Well, of course it’s me, silly. I went to the nicest lady who shaved all that heavy fur off my body. The temperature dropped about 10 degrees without all that on.
The lady that did it spoke to me differently than my people and I loved the way it sounded. It made my day with her so nice that I felt like I was king for the day.
And once I saw myself with my new haircut, I knew I WAS king. I mean, really, how could you not adore me looking like this?

You read that right! I’m one HOT dog.
No, I don’t mean my looks (but hey you all know I’ve got the looks), I mean hot as in temperature! It is so dang hot in my yard!
I’m sure this happens every year but it just seems hotter this year. Maybe because I’m 14. Maybe because there’s fewer shady spots this year. Maybe because I NEED a summer shave!
I overheard one of my people talking about getting me shaved this week. That sounds like heaven, even if I have to endure that noisy thing that pulls my beautiful hair.
If it cools me off, I’m all for it! Bring it on!

My favorite little person read me a dog book today. I love when she reads to me! I learn all kinds of things from her and she takes good care of me.
The weather has been so nice that my people leave the back door open. It’s nice to see what they do in that big box they call a house. AND sometimes I get special treats which of course I never turn down.

OK, so I made it home to my family!
A teenager boy had me. He picked me up from my neighborhood but told my people he found me on Franz Rd. For those of you who do not live in Katy, that’s about 15 miles from my house. There’s NO WAY these 13 year old legs would make it that far!
Anyway, I was excited he took me back home and my people were waiting for me in the driveway. I could tell they missed me as much as I missed them.
I’m in desperate need of a spa day and after all this drama I bet I get it!

The little people at my house left my gate open and I decided to look around awhile.
Well, now I am lost and cannot find my way home. I have never gone out of my neighborhood before and it’s scary!

My people took me to a Dog “HOWLaween” party. I’ve seen a lot in my 13 years of life but nothing like I saw at the dog park.
There were dogs dressed up in costumes and some even matched their people.
I laughed at most of them but there were a few that were cool. My favorites were the race dog and the “big bad wolf”. I think I liked them because they were tall. I’ve always wanted to be tall.
I’m sure you’re wondering if I wore a costume. If you know me AT ALL, you’d know that I would NEVER. I’m handsome with the coat I was given at birth… why cover up a good thing?

I have to admit that I’m loving the weather lately. Going on walks in the evening with my shiny, black coat seems like the perfect life.
I’ve met more friends walking around the neighborhood the past few days. I think we must have had a few new people move in because some of these dogs I’ve never seen before.
I’m not exactly sure why someone would NOT have a dog. We’re pretty great companions, protectors, and playmates.
In fact, there’s even a site where you can find a dog that suits you and your lifestyle. Of course, there’s only one ME and I’m sure I would be your first choice, but hey, you may get lucky and find a dog you like.

Hurricane Ike took away part of the fence to my yard. Dang hurricane!
Now I am living life on the front porch. I have to say that it’s been pretty fun.
I love barking at everyone and I’ve even kept two people from coming up the walk. So fun!
I’m also getting to go on more walks AND having milk every morning. Can’t beat that!
It’s great seeing my people come and go and napping in the bushes in between.

Well, I survived my first hurricane! My people stayed at home so, of course, I did too. I have to admit that it was a little scary so I ran up into the attic and hunkered down there for the night. Not sure what that word means, but I kept hearing it a lot and I think it sounds funny.
Don’t know if you can tell by the picture but I’m drenched. I had to go out and take care of business this morning and it was still raining.
Part of the fence that goes around my yard is gone. Bummer! Now I’m living in the garage until my yard gets fixed and back to normal. It’s actually kind of nice… I even have a fancy rug!
Hope all the other pets faired as well as I did.
